I want to encourage you!

Then He Rose

Then He Rose

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter yesterday. I miss gathering with people dearly, but there was something so special about yesterday. It was special because God is a God ABOVE circumstances and His people still praised Him! Though the things of this earth change and remain unstable, God is still the same God today, yesterday, and tomorrow!

Easter this year was different and new traditions were made, but the name of Jesus was still exalted. I saw posts, stories, emails, commercials, texts, videos, tweets, blogs, and many others praising Jesus and His resurrection! Thank you, Lord for the gift of technology!

Today, I want to encourage us to continue praising Him.

Take a moment to read this Psalm… meditate, journal, and reflect.

Psalm 145

1 I will extol you, my God and King,
and bless your name forever and ever.
Every day I will bless you
and praise your name forever and ever.
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised,
    and his greatness is unsearchable.

One generation shall commend your works to another,
and shall declare your mighty acts.
On the glorious splendor of your majesty,
and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.
They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds,
and I will declare your greatness.
They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness
and shall sing aloud of your righteousness.

The Lord is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
The Lord is good to all,
and his mercy is over all that he has made.

10 All your works shall give thanks to you, O Lord,
and all your saints shall bless you!
11 They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom
    and tell of your power,
12 to make known to the children of man your mighty deeds,
and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and your dominion endures throughout all generations.

[The Lord is faithful in all his words
and kind in all his works.]
14 The Lord upholds all who are falling
and raises up all who are bowed down.
15 The eyes of all look to you,
and you give them their food in due season.
16 You open your hand;
you satisfy the desire of every living thing.
17 The Lord is righteous in all his ways
and kind in all his works.
18 The Lord is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
19 He fulfills the desire of those who fear him;
he also hears their cry and saves them.
20 The Lord preserves all who love him,
but all the wicked he will destroy.

21 My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord,
and let all flesh bless his holy name forever and ever.

In this Psalm, David is praising God for who He is and what He has done. After a lifetime of following God, this Psalm sums up David’s heart for The Lord—His God and King. It is easy to see how much passion David has for God by reading these words. He is passionately in love with Him and he wants everyone to know how worthy God is of this kind of praise.

David praises God by declaring His greatness, might, majesty, wonder, goodness, righteousness, graciousness, mercy, steadfast love, sovereignty, glory, power, glorious splendor, faithfulness, provision, kindness, nearness, and His holiness. Wow! What a praise! In 21 verses, David is able to say so much about God’s character.

My prayer is that this kind of praise would be an integral part of our everyday life. May we live each day as if it’s resurrection Sunday. May we not let our days pass without praising the One who deserves our praise. His life, death, and resurrection were not meant to be celebrated on one day and forgotten the next. This wonderous act of love and mercy changed eternity FOREVER!

I pray we would wake up each morning and remember to praise God for cancelling our debt. That we would praise Jesus, just as we did yesterday, for laying down His life to pay for our sins, wiping our slates clean, and for giving us the opportunity to spend eternity with Him. May our prayers be like King David’s, as he poured out his praise to God, saying he will bless His name forever!

It may not be Easter Sunday anymore, but Jesus is still alive and reigning! Let’s praise our risen King today and forever!!

Reflection Question: How can you live each day like it’s Resurrection Sunday? How can you praise God like David did in Psalm 145?
